I am trying to make cell A1 turn red if either A3 or B1 or C2 or D4 have the text Avg > 0.5%. I have tried this in cell A1 - Format - Conditional Format - Formula is =IF(OR(A3="Avg > 0.5%", B1="Avg > 0.5%", C2="Avg > 0.5%", D4="Avg > 0.5%")) but Excel complains. Could someone please show the proper format for this conditional format? Thank-you in advance!

billamb,

The formula for IF looks for the logical test, the result if true, the result if false. If you put the formula in the cell Excel will prompt you for values. I imagine the complaint from Excel is that the formula is not complete.
