Conditional formats in 2007 that work in 2003???

I love the 2007 conditional formatting features right out of the box, but my
clients using 2003 canšt see them.

I figure there must still be a subset carried forward from 2003 that I can
use, but I donšt see any references to that anywhere. I no longer have 2003
installed and canšt check the work myself.

There is a similar problem with charts, but they seem to be stable in 2003
or even on the Mac side as long as no one tries to edit them.

Help or suggestions?? Thanks!

Best,

Bill

When you go into Conditional Formatting and New Rule in Excel 2007 there are
6 rule types listed at the top of the dialog. It looks to me that the
second ("Format only cells that contain") and the sixth ("Use a formula to
determine which cells to format") are carryovers from Excel 2003.

When I use those two types in a sheet and save the file in the older XLS
format I do not get a compatibility warning (and they worked in Excel 2003).
When I tried one of the new types I did get a warning. I guess that (a
warning) would be your ultimate guide.

Thanks, Jim. I wasnšt looking in the rules windows at all since my needs
were very simple. Sounds as if youšre probably right.

Was hoping there would be a compatibility subset or a reference somewhere,
but this will help some. Thanks!
