CONCATENATE not producing any results

Hi;

Im hoping that im making a really silly error here myself but I really
cannot see whats wrong and getting frustrated!
Im using the Concatenate function within my worksheet but after setting up
the function and pressing the enter key, nothing happens at all. No result is
shown for the formula, just the formula itself is displayed within the cell:
'=concatenate(d10,d11)'
I have already checked to make sure that the worksheet is not set up to show
the formulas and have tested out anything that I think could be affecting it
but to no avail.
Are there certain types of cell contents that cannot be used with this
function or is there something that I am missing perhaps?

Any help is greatly, greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,
Jen

Did you actually enclose your formula in quotes? If so that's your problem.
The other way is if your cell was formatted to Text before you entered the
formula. Change the format to General, then re-enter the formula.

BTW, the shortcut to Concatenate is &, as in:
=d10&d11

Fred.

check if your cell is formatted to General via
right click on the cell
select Format Cells

if not, select General
also check that your formula doesn't have ' in front of it.

fyi, all functions can be use in Excel, however you need to check for the
formatting of the cell.

Thats brilliant, thanks both of you, problem sorted now!

It was the format of the cell (Text) before I had even started to type in
the formula.
Deleted the formula, changed the cell format and re-entered and workin fine
now. Shortcut V handy also! Again, many thanks )
