Hello,

Have a working PC and having multiple issues and want to just start from
scratch.

Can someone walk me threw how to re-install Windows XP on my pc.

I inserted the blue Gateway Operating System DVD into the pc and rebooted
but get the message you have a newer version on pc then on DVD and aborts
what I want to do.

Any ideas????

When you purchased the Gateway computer, did you upgrade from a
previous version of Windows to Windows XP? The CD or DVD you are
using may have a previous version of windows on it. Have you tried
putting in the CD while booted into windows and running the install
from there?

You're getting the message because 1) your Gateway installation media is
pre-Service Pack 2 and your current install is post-Service Pack 2; and
2) you're trying to do a clean install from within your running Windows
which won't work. Here are links to take you through a clean install.
You can use your Gateway cd or slipstream SP2 into it.

You rebooted, but you rebooted from the hard drive, not the CD. You need to
boot from the CD. Change the boot order in the BIOS.

I had just installed a new service pack so I think that was the issue.
Thank you for your input.
