Computer won't sleep when connected to internet

I am currently operating Windows Vista Home Premium on a HP Pavilion a6010n.
When I am connected to the internet my computer will not go to into sleep
mode. The display (monitor) will go to sleep after its desired set time, but
the PC will not. I have tried all troubleshooting hints provided by HP and
nothing works. If I am not connected to the internet the sleep function
tends to work perfectly fine.

Thanks for the advice; however I tried step 5 under "Network adapters".
Under Network adapters there was "Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection",
that is the device I unchecked Allow this device to wake the computer. Doing
this did not work. Is this the correct thing I am supposed to be doing, or
am I misunderstanding.

I do have an "Advanced" tab, but the Property listings are different from the
ones shown in the tutorial. The boxed in red Property settings do not even
exist. There are different properties listed with "Value" settings. Thank
you again.
