Computer won't hanugup after idle time has expired

I am trying to get my dial up internet connection to hang up the connection
if idle for 20 minutes. I have gone into the 'Options' tab of the
appropriate connection and set it for 20 minutes. After timing this it does
not seem to be working. Any suggestions?
