Computer wakes up from suspend - eventlog entry?

My new computer keeps waking up from suspend. I'd suspend it, walk
away and sometime when I pass by it's fully active. Not even the
screensaver is in operation, it's showing the logon panel.

I can't seem to find any entries in eventlog that would indicate the
reason it woke up - should there be any?

See if this helps.

Go to Control Panel and double click Network Connections.
Note: If you still have Control Panel configured for Category
views you'll need to click on Network and Internet Connections
first to get to Network Connections.
In the Network Connections folder, right click your Local Area
Connection and select Properties from the menu.
On the General page, click on the Configure button.
This should bring up the properties sheet for your network
adapter.
Click on the Power Management tab.
Remove the check mark from the box next to "Allow this device
to bring the computer out of standby".
Click OK.

On a side note, if you want to avoid having to logon after
resuming from standby, open Power Options in Control Panel.
Click on the Advanced tab. Remove the check mark from the box
next to "Prompt for password when computer resumes from
standby". Next, double click Display in Control Panel. Click on
the Screen Saver tab. Remove the check mark from the box next
to "On resume,...". Click OK. Keep in mind that both of these
settings are configured to be on by default as a security
measure. Don't disable them unless you're not concerned about
others being able to access your computer when it's left
unattended.

Good luck

I didn't tnink that this was going to do it - my computer wasn't
connected to a LAN and the LAN port was siabled, but I went into the
BIOS and completely disabled the on-board LAN. That seemed to do the
trick, it's been sleeping like a baby ever since.

Will have to figure out what to do if I ever want to connect it to a
LAN, but that's an issue for another day.

Even if you eventually connect to a LAN, no further action is required
UNLESS you want the LAN to wake up the computer.
