OK, I've done some reading. I understand what I need to do to get tv or
vcr into my computer and how to copy a movie to a cd, but I still don't
understand how to get a movie from my computer to a vhs tape. How do I
get a movie from my computer to a vhs tape? And, do some capture cards
have capture only capability and others can capture and send (is that
what's missing in my understanding of how to get the movie back to tape)?

Hi there,

You've hit the nail on the head. You need a device attached to the computer
that is capable of converting your file into the format that your camera or
VHS tape recorder can accept, and that's the real rub...can your camera of
tape deck accept a picture down a wire?? and if it can, what device is
recommended for sending that signal?

I have a full size Panasonic Video Camera that comes with several methods
of receiving a signal....both RF and direct Video and S-VHS. In its day
that was rather good, I would not use it now that I have a DV camera
though.

My graphics card is capable of serving more than one monitor and its
possible to tell it that its serving a TV. The output though is not all
that good. You can buy TV-Out cards that will do the job in the form of an
RF signal, the only comments I have ever heard is that they are OK...which
I take to mean they could be better.

Best way I know of to do this is to use Nero (or another program that
supports it) to burn a VCD (NOT the HIMAT CDs that WMM2 makes), then output
your component DVD player to the VCR, and record that. Even the best TV-Out
port on on a video card, or scan converter, won't compete with the output of
a cheap component DVD player.

Hope that helps
