My computer is running win2000.Before now it is running very well. But
yestoday i install the microtek scanner drivers to my computer. And it is
running very very slow.I cannot run any application now. When i run the task
manager,i found the process of system is running almost 99% of the usage of
cpu.And i cannot stop this process. And also i cannot unistall the scanner
drivers(Because it is so slow!)
What can i do?
Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Get a copy of msconfig.exe (http://www.svrops.com/svrops/dwnldoth.htm),
run it, go to the Startup tab, then disable whatever program pertains
to your scanner.

But the computer is very very very slow.I cannot wait for running
msconfig, and also as same as under safe mode.

Here are a few options:
a) Wait until msconfig.exe becomes available, or
b) Perform a repair installation, or
c) Install Win2000 over the top of the existing installation, or
d) Format the disk, then create a new installation of Win2000.

Option a) is my favourite. Options b) and c) may or may not
solve your problem. Option d) is guaranteed to solve your
problem. You will have to re-install all your applications and
restore your data from backup.

There are other options, e.g. to boot into the Emergency
Console and selectively disable drivers. This requires a good
knowledge of Win2000 and its drivers, and the ability to
work at a Command Prompt level. I would not recommend
it to a novice.
