Hi,
A few weeks ago, while working with my normal software, i suddenly got a
BSOD (which i haven't seen in years) about some system process having
unexpectedly ended.
It didn't dump anything, instead it just froze. Ever since then, my computer
has been running REALLY slow. It takes atleast 20 minutes from i start the
computer, till i can actually work on it, and still it runs slow and freezes
every now and then.
Is there something i can run to see if there is a problem with something, or
anything i can do to get back the shape of my system?
I haven't seen any BSOD or crashes since then, so i'm assuming i don't have
any conflicting software on my machine. I haven't been able to find any
viruses or malware either.

How do i figure out why it is suddenly so slow, and any ideas of how to fix
it?

Look in the event log and post back any relevant errors, the info you
provided isn't enough.

Partlty to repeat your other advice. A Stop Error (BSOD) if it was that
should be recorded in Event Viewer.

Are there any problems indicated in the System and Application logs?

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in the
System and Application logs in Event Viewer relating to the last boot in
normal mode . No Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate
which also appear in a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer.Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Is the problem the time to boot to desktop or lack of responsiveness
after the deskstop has loaded?

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties,
Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Thank you for your advice guys, but i'm afriad i wasn't patient enough. I did
a checkdisk (took 8 hours) and it still didn't fix anything, so eventually i
just reinstalled.
