Hi. Recently my computer has been switching off ( re booting ) whilst in use.
It can happen seemingly anytime and for no apparent reason or prompting.
Any help in solving this would be greatly appreciated.

look in event viewer around the time of the crash for any clue that may be
there.

there is an option that can
be disabled in order to
prevent a reboot upon a
system failure and will instead
produce a blue screen with
an error code/message.

the option can be found by
going to control panel>system>
advanced>startup/recovery>
automatic restart.

[incidentally, be sure that
there is data/specifications
entered regarding debugging
and memory dump.]

afterwards you can post the
error message on the newsgroup
and search for it on google or
microsoft.com

First thing to check is heat related problems. Are you case fans
working? Is your fansing clogged with dust? Is the CPU fan spinning?
