First of all, can you boot into Safe Mode?
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...utorial61.html
If not, how about Last Known Good Configuration?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307852
What anti-virus application, if any, had been installed prior to the
installation of the Trend Micro (TM) application the other day and did you
uninstall it before installing the TM app?
Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine
(e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?
I'm more than a little concerned here seeing as you'd recently "lost" all
your restore points (cf. your thread from 13 Feb:
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...50f505646bfd06).
All of this "smells" like a hijackware infection.
[[Totally OT: Are you or is your family originally from Lancaster County,
Pennsylvania?]]
