If the remote site is running the FrontPage Server Extensions, choose Open
Site (or Open Web) from the File menu and specifying its HTTP address ought
to do it.

If you have to access the remote site by FTP and you have FP2003, just open
the FTP location (i.e. "ftp://ftp.example.com/public_html") and FrontPage
will download a working copy.

If you have FP2002 or earlier, open the site in Widnwos Explorer or your
graphical FTP program, and then drag the whole site into some workign folder,
such as My Document\My Webs\example.

If you're trying one of those and it's not working, please post again to
this thread, explain exactly what commands you're using, and describe the
exact failure (i.e. the exact error message).

You need to open the internet site with FrontPage, which usually only
requires that you give FrontPage's "Open Web" dialog the address that
you normally use when you browse to the site. You will then be
prompted for your User Name and Password, which your hosting service
will have given you when you signed up with them - if you don't
remember them, the hosting service will probably help you out. Once
you have opened the site on the internet, you should Publish it to a
local disk, close the original site, and work on the local copy,
Publishing it back to the internet site when appropriate.
