Hi

When I start up my machine it gets as far as the motherboard manufacturers
screen (And will display BIOS screen if I press Tab) and then restarts over
and over an over again. The machine was fine and dont ask me what happened
before this problem occoured as I was away and the kids were using it! They,
as always, claim they did nothing wrong! "It just happened"

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks
Rob

Win XP, 512mb RAM, MB - Asus P4P800SE

Take it to a repair shop, we could only guess as to what's wrong.

Your problem has nothing to do with Windows. Try posting
in a hardware newsgroup.

since your bios seems to
be the only access into
the pc then try getting
into it by pressing one
of the fkeys like f1 or del
key will powering up.

then when the menu pops up
check to see if your hd's and
ram is indicated and or enabled.

although these are configurable
settings, you might have an automatic
mode where the bios resets all the settings
for the hardware in your pc. if so, then
use this instead, save, exit and reboot.

hopefully this will help, if not
then the other suggestion to get
it serviced is a good suggestion.

btw, blaming it on the kids is a bit lowe...

I had exactly the same problem with my system a week or so ago, spent
ages trying to sort it!

Then noticed that the "Pause/Break" key on my keyboard was stuck,
freeing this key returned my system to normal.

Might be a long-shot but worth checking.

Cheers - Agzee
