Computer sometimes hangs after installing KB909095

I recently installed hotfix KB909095 to allow my computer (running Windows XP
SP2) to hibernate with 2 GB of RAM. After installing this patch however, I've
noticed that my computer "hangs" when I do certain things. For example

1) When I click on a link in IE6, the page starts to load, but then IE just
hangs for about 15-20 seconds before it finishes loading the page.

2) If I start an application from the quick launch bar, the icon stays
depressed for about 15-20 seconds (seems like the execution is hanging)
before the application is finally started.

3) When using a VNC, if I try to autocomplete a string to a filename that
does not exist or autocomplete a string that matches multiple filenames (for
example in a directory that has file1 and file2, I type file and
autocomplete), the VNC session hangs for about 15-20 seconds.

Any idea why installing this patch caused these problems? And what do I do
to resolve it?
