anytime i try top play farcry, or americas army the
compuer will shutdown about 5 min into gameplay, online
ie is not affected, seems only games. Help

Make sure you're using the latest drivers, most likely video are
responsible.

To check what video card you have in your system, right click on 'My
Computer' in the start menu and go to Properties.

A new window will appear, click the 'hardware' tab and then on the 'device
manager button'.

Another window will appear, if you expand 'display adapters' it will list
the video card in your system.

The two most likely manufactures will be either ATi (Radeon series of cards
http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html) or nVidia (TNT/GeForce series
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp).

Also run any utility you have that shows the tempreture of your video
accelerator's Graphic Processor Unit (GPU).
It might be overheating with the added load from the game.
