Hi,
I installed Windows XP (home edition) on a computer with
an older motherboard. It is an AZZA PT-6IBD with an Award
BIOS v4.51PG.
Everything works fine but when I shutdown XP, the computer
doesn't shut off. It doesn't power off even holding the
button.
The only way I can turn the computer off is to use the
on/off switch on the back of the power supply itself. The
power supply is new.
All of the wires are correct to the motherboard, power on,
reset, etc.
The only thing I can think of is to upgrade the BIOS.
If anyone has any ideas, I would like to hear. Get a
starting point anyway.
Thanks,
Judy

IF you hold the button in longer then 4 secounds does it turn off

Check the "Power Management Setup" settings in your BIOS

No. I held the button for 15 seconds and nothing.

You don't happen to have a VIA chipset anywhere on the Mboard do you? I have
the same problem and have tried all the suggestions on all the websites to
no avail. I seem to remember that VIA chipsets have 'many' problems.
