I don't pretend to be a computer expert by any means and perhaps
others more knowledgable can give you a better answer but it sounds
like she has a virus. The mere mention of Norton raises a question
mark in my mind as its a resource hog and causes nothing but problems.
I use to have it and it would not let me do a system restore. Since
removing it from my computer its been fine.
Instead I would suggest the following;
AVG for her anti-virus:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
Comodo for her firewall:
http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/
Spybot for malware removal:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
and A-squared for malware removal:
http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/
These are all free, and once installed run each to see if they find
anything. It certainly can't hurt and her system will be well
protected.
