I am currently running XP home edition sp2 but when I download certain
programs like IE 8, ITunes, etc...the software program terminates
installation and tells me that the program is not compatible with my OS. Some
of these programs report that I am using Windows 2000, which I am not. When I
check my OS version on my computer it says I am using XP which was installed
when I bought the computer. Any suggestions as to why this is happening? How
do I fix it? Thank-you!

IE 8 is not official and is in BETA test. I would avoid it until it
comes a "released" product.

I would make sure that you have the latest released version of iTunes
and not any Beta versions.
