Computer quickly shuts down after starting

I have installed a P4 mother board 266 and now I have
this problem with the system quickly shuting down about 3
seconds after it starts. I have checked all cables etc.
Power supply is Antec 380W. If I remove the battery and
put it back in it will start with no problem and restart
as well, but after it sits over night I have to remove
and replace the battery to get it to start up. Th is a
headache as I have to reset the CMOS time and date when
the battery is removed. Any ideas on what to try? Thanks.
