My computer will not reboot XP, received a Red x message error about
memory, I think. Could not start any programs. Tried to reboot
computer. Down ever since. Will just hang on the setup screen, but
will only show for 1 second a message which says something about if we
are running UNIX, then it goes away. I cannot get that to stop. Tried
to go to safe mode by using F8 key; nothing going on. Tried to use XP
recovery disk and tried to read from the CD drive; would do nothing.
The lights blink when it goes from device to device but will not do
anything else. I think the memory got hosed maybe. Anybody know?

Try reseating the ram and video card. If the issue persists and you have
more than one memory module, remove them by turns to see if you can isolate
one of the modules.
