Computer loses connection to network

We have about 6 computers on a network plus a server, and as of
yesterday, one of those computers keeps losing it's connection to the
network and has to be reattached to the server, only to lose the
connection again.

Updates have been run on the computer, and several programs were
uninstalled yesterday thinking they might be causing the problem.
Those programs were SpywareBlaster, SpyBot & Ad-Aware, but as of
today, the problem still exists. Norton AV 2006 runs on all the
network computers and updates are run regularly.

Any ideas?

TIA,
Paula

Hello Paula ,

Is it a domain and you have to add the machine again to the domain or what
did you mean with reattache?

Best regards

Meinolf, I do believe I "replied to author" earlier rather than to the
newsgroup... sorry, it's been awhile since I've posted here.

Anyway, on boot, a .bat program runs and "reattaches" each computer in
the network to a server where we run a program called JobBOSS.

TIA,
Paula

Hello Paula ,

Did you try to ping the server after boot and login to the workstation?

Best regards

Meinolf,

No, I haven't. Not sure how to do that actually. I'm not all that
familiar with networks. I've just inherited the maintenance of ours
since the IT guy that was handling it moved out of state.

TIA,
Paula

Hello Paula ,

Open START, RUN type cmd and press enter. In the black window type ipconfig
/all and if you see something like 169.254.x.x your computer has no ipaddress
to connect to the network. If you see something other please post the result.

Best regards

Meinolf,

I do get quite a bit of information when I enter that command.
Unfortunately, I cannot copy it. But it is showing an IP address.

TIA,
Paula
