For some reason my computer either slows down tremendously or locks up for
periods of 5-20 seconds every 5 minutes or so. I havent changed any hardware
or software recently, and ran scandisk and defrag already and the problem
still occurs. Sometimes it runs smoothly after a restart, however. any ideas?

i'd check all your cooling fans to see if one is slow or possibly stalling.
be sure to especially check the fan on your cpu.
if you find a bad fan...be sure to replace it ...
it's not worth it to attempt a repair

Hi,

Download and run Process Explorer. Look for any process that's taking up all the CPU
recourses at the time of slow downs. This will help narrow the search.
