Recently a message box has begun to appear on my screen.
My screen saver comes on after a few minutes of
inactivity. Then when I hit a key to bring back my
desktop I get a message box saying that "The computer is
in use and has been locked." It asks for my password. I
don't give it; instead I click on OK and the normal
working screen comes back.

I had been using this computer for several months before
this started happening. O, I am using Windows XP Home.

Go into screen saver settings, uncheck "on resume
password protect".

To turn this off (I would personally recommend that you have a password set for your user account, and keep this feature on as it prevents others from
tampering with what you are working on when you leave your desktop for a while), you can read the following article. The article is focused on Windows
2000, but XP should have similar features.

Hope it help. Thanks.
