Every time OUtlook does a send/receive, no other function on the computer
works. It's like it takes 110% of resources. I can't type, open a folder or
even move the mouse. Anyone know how to correct this?

Version of OL, the o/s, and its mail type?
Tried uninstalling any intergrated email AV scanning?

Not without any Outlook configuration information.

Two things which helped me (Outlook 2003) recently:

1. Run the inbox repair tool on your .pst file (the tool, scanpst.exe, may
be in Program Files/Common Files/System/MSMAPI/1033)
2. Turn off Automatic Updates - or maybe just download the latest.
