Hi Rupert,
You didn't mention having run a virus scan on that system.
1) Run a Virus Scan:
http://housecall.antivirus.com/
2) Run Spybot from:
http://security.kolla.de to remove any Trojans, Adware, or Spyware

| I have tried disabling all of the start up processes in msconfig but this
| makes no difference. I have XP home with all updates etc. applied. It takes
| about 5 minutes to boot on an AMD Athlon 1800 when it used to take about a
| minute. When running, the mouse is often jerky as well. Applications such as
| OE and IE6 take about three times longer to load.
| Have tried running bootvis, have defragged, checked the bios for anything
| obvious but all to no avail.
| If anyone has any suggestions where else I could look I'd appreciate it.
