Computer hangs after installing updates

After installing updates KB832894 and 828028 my computer hangs. Sometimes after a number of hours and sometimes quicker. The type of task does not matter, whether I'm defragging, working with music files or whatever
After uninstalling the above updates, no more hanging
Anyone else having the same problem
I have Windows XP Home SP1 and Internet Explorer 6 SP1 installed.
