The Computer Grinch won't let up

I'll try to stay on the problem(s) but there are way too many things hitting
my computer.

Got WINXP Pro SP2 on a Pentium 4, 2.4GHz with 1 GB of RAM. I have three hard
disks two of which I don't use at this time since the RAID 1 does not work
correctly. So I have a disk with 240 GB divided into one primary partition
and three logical ones that worked satisfactory until about a week ago when
things went from annoying to bad.

So here is a list:

(1) Before my computer gets to the WIN XP window I get a screen that says:

BootMagic corrupt run config
Press a Key- (pressing a key takes me right into WINXP with no further
problems)

I had this problem couple of months ago and changed hard drives copying the
primary partition to this new drive. It booted up without any problem (no
mention of bootmagic) which from what I understand won't work with NTFS.
About two months ago it started up again. Where is this file and how do I
clear it so my computer boots up without this small but annoying window. And
then when I shut down, the computer would shut down completely, at this time
I get a screen that says it is safe to turn off the computer and requires a
manual turn off.

(2) Recently my system seemed to get worst, tho I have (or had) eTrust EZ
Antivirus on my computer, (its still there) but it isn't working properly
and I also have SpyBot, they can't find anything wrong after a scan. So I
then went to system restore and I get an error message that it has
encountered a problem and needs to close. Went to services to turn it on
and the message comes up about not finding a path.

(3) Another problem that has me confused is that whem some windows come up,
they are slightly truncated and can't be expanded. Like one small
application that can correct some problems in the registry related to a
Microsoft Game comes up with the margin on the right cut off so you can't
click the necessary button.

So what is this, or what is it? Are these all related or do I have a
Computer Grinch that won't let up?

Today, I decided to reinstall my SP2 to see if this would help and I got a
message that:

Setup couldnot verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. and it stopped.
My computer still boots OK and I tried using a previous back (Nero Backup
Program) but that didn't seem to help.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried a clean install of Windows? This means deleting and
recreating the system partition during the install. You will lose all your
data and programs doing this so make sure you have the program disks and the
data backed up. It may be a hardware problem but you have so many symptoms
it's hard to tell. Why does the RAID not work? This may be a clue that
something is wrong with the motherboard or is it just user error?

Number (3) was one of the first indication of a "small" but annoying glitch
this time around.

Here's a link to another example.

Is this a Visual Basic programming problem?

Any real help is appreciated.

It looks like a video driver problem, but that is just a guess. What
motherboard, cpu, video card, and video driver version are you using?

Still need more detailed information. What model motherboard? Do you have
the latest chipset drivers for the motherboard. As a start go to
www.nvidia.com and download the latest drivers for your video card.

FYI the problem was simply the font setting in Display
Properties-Settings-Advanced-General tab. The DPI setting had been changed
to Large, tho' I have no idea how this happened since I am the only one
using this computer.
