Hi,
My computer (Dell Optiplex w/ XP home SP2) is changing my ip address on a
daily basis. I have Bellsouth DSL and have had to renew and reset the correct
pasword through the Bellsouth tool application after I close my Panda
security software. This has been going on for a week or so. I have a netgear
router with a wireless to a 2nd computer which is not affected.

Any ideas how I can correct and stop the address change?

If your internal IP address keeps changing then you must
give it a fixed address instead of relying on DHCP.

If your external IP address changes then you must ask your
ISP for a fixed IP address.

I suspect that may be linked to the Panda security software - most Broadband
users that I know of have a variable Ip address. Indeed, my network has a
variable IP address from my ISP, and on top of that, each machine receives
IP by DHCP from the router as well, and I don't need to keep entering ISP
passwords...

You state that you have a "Netgear" router. This has a DHCP service
running on it and depending on the "IP lease timeout",it is normal to
have the IP address chaning constantly. If you do not want the IP
address(es) to be changing, you need to look at "IP address
reservation" or assign the IP address directly in the network
adapter's TCP/IP settings.
