Thermal problems, maybe?
Unplug the power cord, then open the case and vacuum out the dust and
lint, especially in and around the cooling fans. If you have one, or
can get one, conveniently, use one of those tetrafluoroethane gas cans
or a similar dust blowing can to blow the lint out of the cooling
fans and especially around the CPU. A small soft bristled brush may
help dislodge any clinging lint that can't be easily blown away.
To minimize the chance for damaging the motherboard components with
static electricity, be sure to make contact between your hand and the
case so any static charge arcing and sparking will be minimized. Make
sure nothing is blocking the air flow at the case vent openings.
