hi,
computer crashed, would not reboot, or recover when i put the disk in to
recover files. had to had to reinstall xp, stated which xp did I want, when
selected first 1, it said sys/boot, corupted, would not work, so, i select
the 2 xp, same thing,
sys/boot, corupted, last one, up and running, download all Xp sp1-3, audio
fine. everything good to go. Could not find any of my program, Kodak program,
Adobephoto shop, or anything from my desktop.
it was a clean drive. but, after 1 day, it crashed.

Reinstalled again,
Husband read in the computer book to switch BIOS, from 2 to 1, everything
fine, (still can't find any of my old files), but downloaded and was able to
reconnect to Internet, download all xp files, but the sound is still not
working. Trouble shoot did not help me, and could nt find the driver for it
on Dell webpage. Tried to download XP again, and upload driver, but computer
states everything is okay.
After 1 week, computer is working good, but still missing all my old photo,
etc, and no audio.
thank you,
Sara

As the manual tells you, Dell reinstallation destroys old
data files including photos. What backup routine did you
follow before reinstalling?

Troubleshooting audio is difficult because of the range of
topics (from hardware drivers to the on/off mute setting.)
A good check list is published in Mark Soper's PC Help
Desk in a Book (2003.)
