I turned my computer off one night turned it back on in
morning and it will not load. Says windows root>system32
\hal.dll missing please reinstall. Rescue disk nor
operating disk will not work. Can't reach Sony. Can't
find a solution anywhere. Can someone help??

If it is only the hal missing, I would try booting to the recovery console
and copy that single file to system32. At the very least you should be able
to run a repair install from the WinXP cd to restore the os. In either
case, you will probably want to reinstall sp1 once the system is up.
