I'm not an expert, but here's a comment.
Sounds like your old hard drive is being seen properly.
You can see it on your new computer. So you don't need
any link from old computer to new right?
Yes, I think if you install Microsoft Office (including
Word) on your new computer, it should open your OLD Word
documents from the old harddrive with no problems.
Just incase you need to link up 2 computers, how big are
your files you want to transfer? If small, use 1.44"
floppy disks. Old WORD documents aren't that big
usually. I've read many problems trying to link up 2
computers via hyperterminals.
Some easier methods are:
- old floppies?
- burn a CD from old computer if possible
- USB portable harddrives
- log on internet on BOTH computers (ask a friend for
another internet account if needed), then transfer via
ICQ, MSN, etc. Could be slow, but will work for sure
