Computer chugs and mouse jumps when trying to explore my computer

Hello,

I'm setting up a Windows XP SP3 PC with all patches. I have a 3 GHz PC with
2 GIGs of RAM. I've set up quite a few PCs from scratch before but this is
the first time I've screwed up whatever I messed up on this PC. It is not
part of a domain. I just set it up so it has no drives mapped to anything
else. I have updated all my drivers for my Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6
motherboard. I have also updated the BIOS.

When I click on My Computer on my desktop - it opens a blank windows - about
5-10 seconds later it lists my drives but the mouse moves spastically as you
try and click on something. About 20 seconds later you can actually move
the mouse - if you click on the C drive, it moves just fine once you are
in - but as soon as you go back to your entire computer it moves spastically
everywhere. I can do the same thing for the other drive letters.

If I go start run C: it goes right into my C Drive instantly - no spastic
movement whatsoever - same for my other drives.

PS I tried safe mode with networking and still have the same issue.

Figured it out - there are 2 purple raid SATA controllers on the
motherboard - you can connect hard drives no issue but if you plug in
optical drives the issue occurs.
