I am "trying' to design a web page and need info on how to compress large
file size photos(2mb approx) for use on the web page...to 50kb or
thereabouts.
and can all this be done in Frontpage....or do I need to go to pic editing
package??

FP doesn't do it.

Try IrFanview (freebie) & very good for this optimizing, converting, resizing, batching...and more.

It's not really an image editor though...for that you'd want; Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Elements...and theres a few more that I can't remember.

Yah, I have an old version Fireworks 2 I think.

I use Photoshop & Xara X1 (which is becoming my new fav. for graphics).

but nothing so far has beat IrFanview for BATCHIN' - renaming, resizing, optimizing all in one batch...much more user friendly than PS.
