The 'compact files' box pops up. I do not want to compact emails: compacting
emails on Outlook Express sent all to a hidden file - big disaster. Get rid
of box compact offer box, please?

See the section on WinMail here: www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx The messages
in WinMail are separate from the database, so compacting the database won't
result in message loss as it did in OE. So let it compact. You can also
use my Windows Mail utility to do this: www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/

Are you referring to Windows Mail or Outlook Express (OE) in your post?
There is no OE in Vista.
