Does anyone know how to compress DVD files such that 2 or 3 feature
lenght films will fit on a 4.7GB disc?

Thanks

I have obtained (but not yet used ) a progam named DVDShrink which purports
to do just that.

Google for it

Thanks for your reply. I also have a copy of DVD Shrink but have thus
far been unable to get it going.. From a cursory look at the guide it
appears its intended for backing up dual layer DVD s to normal 4.7 GB
discs.

If you get it to actually shrink VOB files please let me know.

Thanks again

DVD shrink will do exactly as you require.
The easiest option is to use DVD shrink to copy DVD's to a hard disk folder.
(DVD shrink will also decrypt protected meterial)
Once you have the files on your HD, use DVD shrink to then copy to blank
media of your choice.
In DVD shrink, you select what the target size is: 8.5gb or 4.7gb
DVD shrink will then fit the files to the blank disk.
NOTE: if intending copying 3 seperate films that originally occupied
12gb in total disk capacity, to fit to a standard 4.7gb disk would
require vast compression.
