Hi all,

I know this is nothing to do with microsoft.public.dotnet.languages.vb.. but
it's the only news group it happens on...

I use Outlook Express newsreader, and have set this newsgroup to get new
message headers and body.. and mostly it does exactly what I want.. i.e.
download all the new messages..

However, sometimes I see that there are several hundred new postings.. and
it just states that there are 8375 messages, 0 unread, 123 not downloaded..
and no matter what I try it will not download the 123 messages...
aaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhh...

I've tried searching for solutions but the only one's I can find refer to
disk space, which I have plenty of, several gigs in fact..

I am now thinking, that the 123 new messages may be replies to the X number
of messages that were posted before I joined this group.. I only subscribed
on the 12/01/2003.. and I can't get outlook to download any earlier messages
than that.. I've already set the number of messages to download to 1000..
which is the max..

Can anyone confirm what I am thinking, or is there some other more insidious
reason.. i.e. messages that I'm not allowed to see???

anyway, enough of my rant.. and I apologise for the off topic post..

Rigga.

Tools- Options- Read tab-middle of page Uncheck the Option box in NEWS
section to get **** (usually 300 Headers at a time) Headers.
Then it will download ALL unread headers. Be prepared for an avalanche if
you have just subscribed to a newsgroup.
