Completed check box in Outlook 2007 does not work in To-do bar

I only want 3 fields to display in the task section of the to-do bar of
Office 2007, Due Date, Completed, Subject. If the To-Do bar takes up 1/2 of
the screen (by widening it) then the Completed check box is functional. When
I make the To-Do bar narrower maybe only 1 or 2 Calendars wide (at the top of
the To-Do bar) then the Completed Check box gets moved to the right of the
view (where it was on the left side when the view was wider) and the check
box is no longer operative - means I can't mark the task as complete.

Is there any way to make the Completed Check box work when the To-Do bar is
thinner?

Thanks,
