I am biased, but I like to think the software I wrote will help you.

The software (true of any safe recovery software) must be loaded onto
a sperate PC, and the problem drive should be a slave drive. I
normally use USB caddy.
As I said earlier, never try and fix a problem drive - you can
overwrite all your good files for ever.
The demo of my software will indicate if files can be recovered, and
JPEGs can be views. Other files can be viewed as a hex dump. The
demo does not save files.
