I've seen some posts from others, complaining about the impact the
WindowsUpdate functions have on computers after startup;
the CPU load is heavy and REALLY ANNOYING on computers not made as small
supercomputers..or something like that.

I just want to bring this complaint up again, -and again, hoping MS will
read this and fix it, -soon. Got some hundred PCs and their users on the
phone daily complaining about the long wait time before they can make use of
their machines after startup/logon, I believe some millions more all over the
globe rip their hair off too, trying to figure out what is wrong.

MS: Do something about this, please!

MS is well aware of the problem.

Deleting either the contents of

C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore

or the folder itself, or the contents of

C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution

or the folder itself seems to address the problem for most users, at least
for the time being.
