I have a pps file. I believe this is a compiled powerpoint file.

I would like to know if it is possible to "de-compile" a pps file &
return it to a ppt file. I've got Office 2007 on a XP Pro SP2
workstation.

PPT and PPS are both the same in versions 2003 and earlier, and all that is required to change the extension is to rename it from PPT to PPS and vice versa. The only difference is the way that PowerPoint opens the file. either in edit mode (PPT) or slideshow mode (PPS) When you save in 2007 it then becomes an altogether different ball game and not as simple.

Open PowerPoint. Now try opening the PPS file from within PowerPoint. You
should be able to open it and edit it and Save As a regular PowerPoint if
you want.

David,

find the file - right click it with your mouse - choose 'rename' change it
from

..pps

to
..ppT

that should do the trick.

It's not compiled in anyway.

cheers
