Ignore Andrew E.'s advice. He only occasionally gets things right, and I
think that's just the laws of probability paying off.
I, and I suspect many other people, run WMP quite happily alongside several
other audio/video players, ne'er a conflict.
I don't blame you for dumping AVG 8 - I did the same (but went to Avira).
Avast is anti-virus software; AdAware and SUPERAntiSpyware aren't and so
won't conflict with Avast. I personally only run the latter two on-demand
rather than in the background, so if AdAware *can* be set to run in the
background (not sure if you can - I'm not too familiar with the more recent
version), and you set SUPERAntiSpyware to do so, I suppose they *might*
clash; but I'd be more concerned with their hogging system resources.
Not sure how Windows Defender affects the mix - never used it myself so I'll
others to comment on that.
You might want to also look at Spyware Blaster
(
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) which is also
non-resident - run, update, apply protection, quit.
