Ok.
I've shot a movie, burned it onto a dvd-rw disk and am now trying to edit
it. The problem is, Movie Maker dosn't support the file type. Is there any
way I could get around that?

MM supports WMV and DV
Your cam is producing a DV, but.............
You've "burned" it onto disk............
If so- then it is now a specific type of mpeg known as a VOB,
It is now NOT compatible with many editing apps.
You need to download and install specific VOB editing software.
GoTo: www.download.com (You will need to register, but it's free)
And search for the numerous freeware VOB editing packages!
