I have a fresh install of Win XP Professional (Version
5.1 with SP1) and it will not write to the cd-r. The
drivers are current (Sony says use SP1 drivers) and it
will not burn a word document to the cd. Any
suggestions? The knowledge base has nothing on this
issue.

Right click your cd burner drive , click propertys , click the recording tab
and make sure the right boxes are checked.
