I have aksed before...

Does anybody know of a tool that can list differences between two mdb-files?

It should only list diffences - e.g. changes to forms, changes in code etc.

That would be a good tool when checking for unintended changes before you
install a database application.

Hi Diane,

There is this tool on the link given below. Maybe it would be of some
use to you.

http://www.softinterface.com/Compare...are-Access.HTM

Also one very good tool I would recommend would be one from Microsoft
itself!

Compare Access databases for data differences

CompareDataWiz 2003 from Software Add-Ins quickly compares two versions
of a database in Microsoft Office Access 2003 and reports all data
differences, including table data. It outlines which records are the
same and which are different, and all records that exist in one
database but not in the other.

Regards,
Vinayak

Data compare is usefull - but I am also looking for a compare of all the VBA
code.

And possibly any changes made to forms, tables reports etc. Basically a
compare of the reports the "documenter" tool can generate. So one step would
be to have the documenter output in a format I could compare. E.g a simple
text format.

It is a shame that, AFIK, there is no date stamp on modules. It is so useful
having one on queries.

Total Access Analyzer and Total Access Detective from FMS
(www.fmsinc.com) do exactly this, and do it well. Not cheap but if
you'll be doing this often, I'd say well worth the price, and they've
been very responsive when I've had questions.
