Up until recently my dvd drive has worked perfectly. All of a sudden if a
disc is in the drive windows will not start properly and if a disc is
inserted after windows has started it will not load properly. It doesnt even
show up on my computer what disc is inserted. Any suggestions. I think I have
the latest drivers.

First thing to do is use a standard CD cleaning kit.

If there is no change in behavior after that, chances are high that the DVD
drive has failed.

If you say and have made no system changes then it’s moslikly to be
hardware failur of some kind. You could try replacing the IDE ribon,
but if it’s a problem with the drive it’s self, then carnt realy give
any advice except ask the manufacturer.
