I got a habit of compacting my outlook .pst file all the time. Maybe 3 or 4 times a day.

Can this be bad?

Dont know about bad, but you are very unlikely to be gaining anything.
More importantly are you backing up your data?

Yeah that's the other thing I do all the time, Backup my data.

I think I have an outlook backup and compact obscession. I'm afraid something bad is going to happen.

How many megabytes are you recovering after each compaction?
How manys times per day do you defrag your hard disk(s)?
How many times a day do you wash your car?

You need something else to occupy your time. Newsgroups always need
another victim, er, helper.

Outlook data files are only getting compacted if there is a serious
empty space percentage (I don't know exactly how much). So most likely
your compacting is not doing anything at all.
