Hi there and a happy new year !

I'm programming a (splitted) database (A2002) to maintain my collection of albums and CD's. On working with this db the back-end grew up to 5282 KB.

I compacted the back-end with extras/compact and repair, the new db had a size of 4936 KB.
To avoid opening the back-end with explorer and compacting everytime manually, I now use "DBEngine.CompactDatabase DataDir, tmpDir" in my app's code. And now the new size is 2260K, without loss of data.

It's fine, but can anyone tell me why interactive and coded version lead to such different results?
