Hi,

I have a shared database on Server 2003. The directory permissions is
everyone full control. If I run the Compact utility in Access it changes the
security permisions on the database, preventing access across the network. Is
there a way around this?

My guess is some sort of settings on the network is resetting the access
rights to the file to read only or maybe changing the status of the file to
read only. I believe that during the compact process a new file is created
and that new file may be inheriting the default file settings for the
directory in which it is located.
